“I accidentally left the Monitask app running after work. Can I delete screenshots and other activity history?”

If you accidently forgot to press pause and your timer has been running while working on non-work related items, you have the ability to go back and delete the recorded time and associated screenshots and activity history on the employee dashboard.

To do this, log in to your employee dashboard and click on the ‘Timeline’ section on the left. You will see a timeline with all activity from the current day being displayed. To select a different day, you can select the proper date from the calendar/timeline above.

Below, you’ll see screenshots and the associated time for each. When you select a screenshot to delete it, you’ll also delete the 10-minute interval of time associated with it. In other words, you will delete the time from your timeline along with the screenshot and any activity monitors for that period of time (keyboard, mouse, internet, and app monitoring).

“Can I delete a screenshot without forfeiting the time I worked?”

It is not possible to delete screenshots or activity from your timeline without deleting the time along with it. In order to distinguish between time worked and “personal time”, all work time must be documented through the Monitask desktop app. This prevents employees from simply recording time and deleting screenshots as they are taken.

However, if the time was indeed worked and you want compensation after having deleted the screenshot, you are able to add manual time to your timeline, which can then be approved by your manager.

For example, let’s say that you are working on a project and you receive an email with personal or sensitive information. As soon as you open the email, a screenshot is taken. You want to delete the screenshot because it contains personal information, yet you don’t want to forfeit the 10 minutes of work that you did during that time. The recommended course of action is to go ahead and delete the screenshot for your own privacy and then request manual time for the slot of time that was worked.

“I removed time from the dashboard, but it still appears on the desktop app.”

If you’ve deleted time from your dashboard and it still shows up on the desktop app, chances are that your application hasn’t been synced with the system since using the dashboard. The Monitask app automatically syncs with the internet, but unstable internet connections and other network issues could prevent Monitask from syncing at the given moment.

In the bottom left corner of the desktop app, you can see the time when the app was last synced with the internet.

At the top left corner, you should see a circular arrow icon. Click on it to refresh the desktop app and sync it up with the internet again. You should then the see the updated time on the app.
